I’ve been duped.

Do you know the frustration you feel when you believed in something strongly and then you realize that the information that made you believe was from a source with an agenda to deceive?

I just watched a powerful and courageous documentary called Peace, Propaganda, and the Promised Land. It certainly has its own agenda and doesn’t present balanced coverage. Still, it showed me how my understanding of the struggles in the Middle East has been skewed by most of our mainstream media. I saw how coverage of the Israeli/Palestinian problem is brilliantly controlled and shaped. I pride myself in understanding how the media works… and I find I’ve been bamboozled.

4.4 Money Talks

One other extremely serious risk that confronts Christians who have been freed from communist oppression is that of letting themselves be controlled by the power of money. The main reason for this is that Christians often hold a dualistic worldview in which prayer is ‘spiritual’ while money is just ‘a worldly matter’. 1.1 Control and Manipulation

The leadership style of the communist era is undoubtedly one of manipulation and control. The party had to have absolute control over the lives of citizens. At the same time, this approach to leadership was replicated at every level of society, including often even in the church.

The usual justification for this undemocratic way of ruling society was that it was done ‘for the good of the people’, because, it was strongly suggested, people obviously do not know what is in their real interest.
