Some harsh words written by Lewis about Barth and his followers. I quote:
‘They don’t think human reason or human conscience of any value at all: they maintain, as stoutly as Calvin, that there’s no reason why God’s dealings should appear just (let alone, merciful) to us: and they maintain the doctrine that all our righteousness is filthy rags with a fierceness and sincerity which is like a blow in the face.’
It seems to me Lewis is right on this account, which, of course, does not make Barth, with all his weaknesses, less important as a theologian.
Douglas A Campbell, Associate Professor of New Testament at Duke Divinity School, and co-author of Four Views on the Apostle Paul, advises theological students to be sure they are called to their field of study, as well as to be proactive in learning within prayerful, thoughtful community.

We celebrate today 125 years from the birth of Karl Barth, undoubtedly the most important Christian theologian of the 2oth century.
On this occasion, Steve Harmon, a Facebook friend, has shared with us a link to one of Barth’s lectures, that he did in Chicago, on 26 April 1962. The fragment below is part of the Q&A at the end of the lecture. In it, Barth explains what he expects from American theology. What he said almost 50 years ago still holds true.

Având în vedere erorile „Creştinilor germani” şi ale administraţiei bisericii din prezentul Reich, care distrug biserica şi în acelaşi timp sfarmă unitatea Bisericii Evanghelice Germane, noi mărturisim următoarele adevăruri:
1. Eu sunt calea, adevărul şi viaţa; nimeni nu vine la Tatăl decât prin mine (Ioan 14:6).
Adevărat, adevărat vă spun că cine nu intră pe uşă în staulul oilor ci, sare pe altă parte, este un hoţ şi un tâlhar. Eu sunt uşa. Dacă intră cineva prin mine va fi mântuit (Ioan 10:1,9).
Isus Christos, aşa cum ne este el mărturisit în Sfânta Scriptură este unicul Cuvânt al lui Dumnezeu pe care noi trebuie să îl auzim, în care trebuie să ne încredem şi pe care trebuie să îl ascultăm în viaţă şi în moarte.

Papa Ioan Paul II si Oscar Culmann
Oscar Culmann a fost unul dintre cei mai importanti biblisti ai secolului trecut. Teologul luteran a fost coleg la Basel cu Karl Barth. Din pricina implicarii sale ecumenice, acesta din urma glumea spunind ca pe mornintul lui Culmann va fi scris “a fost sfetnic la trei papi”.
Am primit recent de la un prieten traducerea in limba romana a unuia dintre cele mai importante texte ale lui Culmann, cel intitulat Botezul in Noul Testament. Nu stiu cine este autorul si banuiesc ca a fost publicat in vreo revista de teologie de la noi.
Deoarece tema botezului pruncilor vs. botezul adultilor este una in care exista enorm de multa ignoranta intre evanghelici, pun mai jos textul acestei lucrari in firmat PDF, spre luminare. Va doresc lectura cu folos.
Emanuel Conţac ne anunţă pe blogul lui trecerea la cele veşnice a cunoscutului teolog anglican şi traducător Rev. Dr. Geoffrey Bromiley, care, între altele a redat în limba engleză monumentala lucrare a lui Karl Barth Church Dogmatics. mai multe detalii la link-ul de mai sus.
Benjamin Myers il numeşte pe Bromiley “cel mai prestigios traducător de teologie al timpurilor moderne”. Cei interesaţi pot găsi AICI o impresionantă, dar incompletă, listă bibliografică.
