Barnevernet

Salvati Copiii – Campanie impotriva violentei asupra copiilor

cauza fiind “indoctrinare crestina”.

7 januarie 2016, in ziarul crestin Dagen din Bergen

Barnevernet: Un caz de interventie a Barnevernet impotriva unui cuplu de crestini penticostali din Norvegia a cauzat demonstratii in mai multe tari europene, precum si in SUA, Canada si India. In decembrie au avut loc demonstratii impotriva Barnevernet in Bucuresti si Madrid pentru familia care locuieste in Vest[ul Norvegiei].

Teodor Tita – Cand si unde poti sa iti bati copiii in numele Domnului? Sau al tau

Bodnariu children

It’s Official – I Am Leaving World Vision

world-vision

Note: Today, my World Vision supervisor, Conny Lenneberg, the leaders of our region, made the official announcement about my leaving the organisation. Here is what she wrote.

* * *

Dear colleagues,

It is with great regret that we advise that, due to funding challenges in F[inancial] Y[ear] [20]16, we will not be able to maintain our Faith in Development Director Position held by Danut Manastireanu beyond February 2015.

Danut has played an instrumental part in the development of the Christian Witness and Spiritual Formation of our leadership and staff over the past 17 years. We are most appreciative of the dedication and passion he has brought to FnD throughout the entire MEER [Middle East & Eastern Europe] region.

Danut started his relationship with WV as a member of WV Romania’s advisory board in 1995, later joining as WV staff in the position of MEER Christian Commitments Director in 1999.  During his service with WV Danut has contributed in so many ways, developing FnD [Faith in Development] staff across the region, supporting the N[ational] O[ffice]s,  advocating on behalf of the region to ensure good understanding of both the unique inter-denominational sensitivities and complex inter-faith context.   Some of the highlights of his contribution include:   Continue reading “It’s Official – I Am Leaving World Vision”

Kelly M Flanagan – Which is More Important, Your Marriage or Your Children?

I have been following for some time Kelly’s website and I often find there useful thoughts that I will try sharing with others, at least from time to time.

What I like about this one id his non-dualistic model, which I also found in Richard Rohr.

Here is the neginning of his text:

The answer is your marriage, and the answer is your children. The answer is neither. The answer is both. The answer, actually, is to begin asking a different question altogether… Continue reading “Kelly M Flanagan – Which is More Important, Your Marriage or Your Children?”

WVI – Our Uncertain Future: A Report Written by the Children of Syria

Meg Sattler, Regional Communications Manager, WVI Syria Crisis Response sits with a refugee family in Jordan

Many years from now, when we look back upon the Syrian conflict with a collective sense of grief, it will be the children we will think of first. As the violence enters its fourth year, an entire generation of children is suffering the brutal consequences of atrocities and global inaction. In neighbouring countries, more than 1.2 million children are struggling to survive as refugees; navigating insecurity, social tensions and educational barriers as they try to remain strong for themselves, their friends and their families.   Continue reading “WVI – Our Uncertain Future: A Report Written by the Children of Syria”

Pray for Syrian Children!

They have fled to Armenia because of the war in Syria and tell how it is to live in a country at war. “The war should stop. People should lead their normal life and those who want to return to Syria should be able to do that”, says Zheni, 16.

This video was produced by World Vision Armenia, in support of the world prayer initiative for Syrian children, now, at three years since the beginning of the conflict in Syria.

My friend David Chronic builds a case in this beautifully written and well argued text for redeeming ‘vulnerability’, viewed not as a curse, but as the gift of God to humanity.

Thanks a lot, David.

”Alege Scoala!”

A Time to Live…: Five Keys to Keeping our Kids Christian

A Time to Live…: Five Keys to Keeping our Kids Christian.

Here are the five principles suggested by Lisa Price (with which you may agree of disagree):

1. Create routine and embrace tradition
2. Shelter their kids
3. Have fun together
4. Teach the Bible and apply biblical principles to real life situations
5. Communicate honestly

Yet, keep in mind that, in virtue of the gift of free moral agency, there is no absolute guarantee that, after we have have done everything we needed to do as parents, our kids would turn Christian 100% of the time.

Yaholo Hoyt – Five Reasons Christian Parents “Lose” Their Children

Yaholo Hoyt is a practical mystic, a passionate writer, a paltry poet, and an old-school Jesus freak. You can find him at http://yaholo.net or read his blog HERE.

Here they are the ‘Five Reasons Christian Parents “Lose” Their Children’, according to the author:

* * *

1) Falling into the temptation of using religion to control their children through guilt and shame.

2) The parents seem to be afraid of the world, instead of empowered to live in it.

3) The children do not see the parents drawing any joy from their faith. Continue reading “Yaholo Hoyt – Five Reasons Christian Parents “Lose” Their Children”

Rita Pierson: Every kid needs a champion

Rita Pierson, a teacher for 40 years, once heard a colleague say, “They don’t pay me to like the kids.” Her response: “Kids don’t learn from people they don’t like.’” A rousing call to educators to believe in their students and actually connect with them on a real, human, personal level.

Rita F. Pierson has spent her entire life in or around the classroom, having followed both her parents and grandparents into a career as an educator.

Many educators in Romania, and other places, should watch this.

20 Things Every Parent Should Hear

Let the children come to me

1. You are a hero for your kids. You are. You’re a go-the-distance, fight-the-dragon, face-the-challenges hero for your kids. Taking a beating makes that more true. Not less.

2. We all struggle. Every parent. Everywhere. We all second-guess ourselves. And we all want to quit sometimes. Hold the good times close, and when things are tough, remember “this, too, shall pass.”

3. Finding the funny may not save your soul, but it will save your sanity. Or maybe it’s the other way around. Either way, look for the humor and embrace the crazy. Laughter is a lifeline.

(I will stop here. You may find the rest of 15 ‘things’ on the Five Kids Is A Lot of Kids, blog.

Watching What They Watch – 9 Tips for Media-Literate Families

Watching What Our Children Watch

This article by Andrea Palpant Dilley, on children and media, written for the her.meneutics blog of Christianity Today is a MUST READ for all parents with young children in this age of visual media.

I present below just the 9 tips she suggests:

When selecting programming….

1. Disregard labels: Phrases like “educational video” or “kid video” shouldn’t be a green light, necessarily. Pediatricians will tell you that children learn best through tactile experience and interpersonal contact. No matter how many PBS logos you see, videos are a passive medium, not an active one, and an entertainment medium, not an educational one. Videos are a supplement to learning, not a substitute.

More importantly, labels pertain to content (violence or other inappropriate content), not form. Keep in mind that form can be violent for a little developing brain, if the video is excessively fast or frenetic.

2. Watch the cut rate: Pay attention to how fast the video moves. The faster the cut rate—more edits or image changes per minute—the more frenetic the video, and the more frenetic the video, the more difficulty your child will have tracking the story. Generally speaking, the younger the child, the slower the cut rate.

For example, at the risk of criticizing a well-loved icon of Christian entertainment, Veggie Tales videos are often too frenetic for kids under 5. The BBC’s Kipper the Dog is a good example of a slow-tempo alternative, or the vintage Mr. Rogers, which is edited with a painfully slow pace. Please help my friend Lészai Lehel in this competition

Dear friends,
The nursery schools in Romania were offered to win a water cleaning and saving system, if they get the most of the votes till the 31st of January. Until now we are on the first place, but the second candidate comes strongly from behind, therefore I ask in the names of the children for your assistance. If you want to help the children from the Csemete, please:
1. Click on this link and you will arrive to the homepage of the offer: http://www.economisireaapei.ro/hu/szavazas.html
2. On the page you have to scroll down until you will see the name of our nursery: CSEMETE Magyar-Angol Óvoda, Napközi Otthon és Bölcsőde, Kolozsvár: Párizs utca 13 szám – Grădinița și Creșa Maghiară-Engleză Csemete, str. Paris nr. 13, Cluj-Napoca. (the competing kindergartens are in alphabetical order). Before the name is a small empty circle, you have to click on it in order to choose the Csemete.
3. After this scroll down to the bottom where you will find the SZAVAZAS word in blue, which means: vote. Click on the text, and it’s done. You may vote every 24 hours from an IP address (PC, laptop, mobilephone) for the Csemete until the 31st of January, without having to register.
Thank you for helping us.
All the best,
Lehel and the Csemete children
