Whether you agree or not with the thesis of this article, the analysis of the way evangelicals in Britain vote is interesting and important.

  1. I guess the author is a right-leaning activist that doesn’t quite understand UK Evangelicals.
On the issue of religious freedom, as he pointed out, both parties are just as guilty. However, while Labour has issued some ham-fisted laws, they were generally not intended to limit religious freedom; problems rose from courts (stretching) interpreting the laws in ways not intended by the government and Parliament.
On the other hand, Tories have actively gone after Christian schools, churches and charities, through government agencies, in their attempt to stifle dissent regarding issues such as homosexual marriage.
Besides this, as the article rightly points, the most important political points for UK Christians are poverty, equality, social justice, and in these areas the Tories have failed miserably.
While immigration may be important to secularists, churches tend to be racially and ethnically diverse and integrated; so a Christian would hardly vote for a racist or xenophobic party like UKIP or the Conservatives.
As the Bible often points out, true religion is caring for the poor, orphans, widows, strangers, the sick and the marginalsed – all of which have been badly hurt by the present Tory government.
