The truth about Gaza.
In early December, MCC staff traveled to Gaza two weeks after a major escalation in violence in which Israeli attacks killed at least 176 Palestinians, most of them civilians, including 42 children. At the same time, rockets fired by Gaza militants killed six Israelis (two soldiers and four civilians). We went to help assess the damage and see how MCC could support our partners working to help those who survived the attacks, and to put some faces to the numbers.
Well before we arrived, and before we could even deliver funds, MCC partner Al Najd had been responding to the needs of people who lost their homes, by supplying basic needs like bedding, cooking tools, and personal hygiene supplies. We were present for part of their distribution, which MCC assistance would help to retroactively fund.
