Dear Summer Institute Faculty, Participants, and Volunteers,

Greetings from Durham! We at the Center for Reconciliation hope that all is well as you press on in your lives and ministries. We wanted to point you toward a few different things…

1) Duke Summer Institute is on Facebook! Check out the Center for Reconciliation’s page. If you are on Facebook, be sure to join the “Duke Summer Institute Community — 2011” page.

Kathy Kelly. a most amazing woman

2) Audio from the Summer Institute is available online. You can access plenary addresses and devotionals for free on iTunes U by visiting the “Divinity School Summer Institute” page within iTunes. You can also access these for free without iTunes. [I suggest you should especially listen to Kathy Kelly‘s message (no. 7) titled Raising A Wartime Lament. It is absolutely stunning.]

3) Photos from the Summer Institute are available online. Many of Robert’s fantastic photos from the week are on Picasa. (They are also in a Facebook album!)

4) We are gearing up for our annual Reconcilers Weekend on September 16-17, 2011, a conference designed for congregational leaders, seminarians, and all who love the church. The title of the conference this year is “The Future is Mestizo: Communities of New Creation at the Borders of Separation.” Come explore with us how this mestizo Jesus, who broke down barriers of identity by crossing segregating boundaries, is calling us into a new human family based on love of God and love of neighbor. Featured speakers are Father Virgilio Elizondo and Kit Danley. Registration will be available on August 1 on the Center for Reconciliation webpage.

5) The content of the Summer Institute has been shaped around 5 key questions concerning reconciliation. To learn more, see this document.

6) Finally, we have next year’s dates for Summer Institute! Beginning as usual with an opening dinner, Summer Institute 2012 will be from May 28 – June 2, 2012.

Many blessings to you!
