Georgian Baptist Archbishop Malkhaz Songulashvili Awarded by Ukrainean Orthodox Patriarch

My very good friend Georgian Baptist Archbishop Malkhaz Songulashvili, Primate of the Evangelical Baptist Church in Georgia has been awarded the Order of Christ the Saviour by Patriarch Philaret of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Kyiv, ”for strengthening friendly relations between Christian churches and for his support to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.” In the same ceremony awards were given to three Anglican clerics.

Communique

On 13th April 2011 the head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kievan Patriarchate, His Holiness , Patriarch Philaret of All Rus-Ukraine awarded the Orders of Christ the Saviour and St George to ecumenical ecclesiastics.

Among the recipients were:
Bishop Stephen George Platten (Order of Christ the Saviour), Lord Bishop of Wakefield and the member of the House of Lords -”For his Ecumenical ministry”.
Archbishop Malkhaz Songulashvili (Order of Christ the Saviour), the Primate of the Evangelical Baptist Church of Georgia, ”for strengthening friendly relations between Christian churches and for his support to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.”
Canon Jonathan Goodal (Order of St George), Archbishop of Canterbury’s Secretary in Ecumenical Affairs, ”for his work with Orthodox Churches.”
Canon Hugh Wybrew (Order of St George), Expert of Orthodox Theology and Liturgy, University of Oxford,
”for promoting understanding Orthodox liturgy in the West.”
Archbishop Malkhaz Songulashvili and Bishop Stephen George Platten were presented with episcopal enculpions by His Holiness Patriarch Philaret. Canon Jonathan Goodal and Canon Hugh Wybrew were also presented with pectoral crosses.

  1. nu-mi era cunoscut faptul ca fratii baptisti au arhiepiscopi, episcopi, etc, nici chiar faptul ca au copiat vestimentatia liturgica bizantina, problema cu arhiepiscopul este ca poarte vesminte specifice monahilor, cum este camilafca, desi din cate am aflat este casatorit

      1. Ft. bine ca un baptist stie istoria Crestinismului si a traditiei bisericesti. Intradevar estenta Crestinismului nu este in traditiile lui ci in persoana Iisus Hristosul. Cand vine vorba de lucrurile folositoare si bune (“good, right, and salutory” cum spun luteranii) este bine sa invatam din bogata mostenire care ne-au last-o apostolii si biserica primara. In acelas timp Episcopul baptist se integreaza si funcitoneaza mai util si efectiv in mijlocul unei culturi Ruse-Ortodoxe. Bravo lui!

  2. Nu țiu să-mi fac reclamă, dar tocmai am postat pe blog niște ziceri ale lui Wurmbrand despre Biserică. Ceea ce s-a întâmplat acolo mi se pare un soi de împlinire fericită a dorințelor de care era mânat și marele nostru luteran.

    Tot n-am reușit încă să înțeleg: ce e „demonic” în faptul că doi capi de biserici vor să găsească o cale de înțelegere și colaborare? Dar poate doar îs eu mai tare de cap.

    1. Eu ce sa mai zic. Am capul atit de tare incit si l-au spart pe al lor, lovindu-se de al meu, mai toti baptistologii din tara. Asa ca a trebuit sa plec, sa nu se umple cumva spitalele de capete baptiste sparte.
