Capitolul IV. Despre creaţie

1. Dumnezeu Tatăl, Fiul şi Duhul Sfânt, a binevoit, pentru a-şi manifesta gloria puterii, înţelepciunii şi bunătăţii Lui veşnice, la început, să creeze, sau să facă din nimic lumea cu toate lucrurile din ea, vizibile sau invizibile, în decurs de şase zile, şi toate au fost foarte bune.

2. După ce Dumnezeu făcuse toate celelalte creaturi, L-a făcut pe om, parte bărbătească şi parte femeiască, cu suflete raţionale şi nemuritoare, înzestrate cu cunoaştere, neprihănire şi sfinţenie reală, după chipul Său, având legea lui Dumnezeu scrisă în inimile lor şi puterea de a o împlini; dar având şi posibilitatea de a călca legea lui Dumnezeu, lăsaţi în libertatea voinţei lor, care era supusă schimbării. Pe lăngă această lege scrisă în inimile lor, ei au primit porunca de a nu mânca din pomul cunoştineţei binelui şi răului; atâta vreme cât au ţinut-o erau fericiţi în comuniunea lor cu Dumnezeu şi aveau stăpânire asupra celorlalte creaturi.

Chapter 4 – Of Creation

1. It pleased God the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, for the manifestation of the glory of his eternal power, wisdom, and goodness, in the beginning, to create, or make of nothing, the world, and all things therein whether visible or invisible, in the space of six days; and all very good.

2. After God had made all other creatures, he created man, male and female, with reasonable and immortal souls, endued with knowledge, righteousness, and true holiness, after his own image; having the law of God written in their hearts, and power to fulfill it: and yet under a possibility of transgressing, being left to the liberty of their own will, which was subject unto change. Beside this law written in their hearts, they received a command, not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil; which while they kept, they were happy in their communion with God, and had dominion over the creatures.
