The same week as the tragic deaths of our colleagues in Pakistan, World Vision had another unprecedented event in our 60-year history.
We received a $35 million gift commitment from a private donor – the biggest single gift ever given to us. This is a remarkable blessing which God has provided through the generosity of a couple who have taken their stewardship seriously.
The gift, which will be provided over the next five years, is for Major Donor Ministry’s “For Every Child” campaign and is specifically for the Water and Sanitation (WASH) sector. This donation is what we call a “lead gift” — a gift that will help draw other major donors to give to the campaign. This gift comes with a match requirement from the donor, which is great news because we can use it to motivate others to match it.
Congratulations to the entire MDM team who has worked many years cultivating this gift. And special thanks to Sam Jackson for his efforts with this donor.
