1.4.3 ‘Divide and Conquer’

The key strategy of the communist authorities (and of the devil himself, for that matter) in fighting any successful religious activities was to create divisions and strife among the church leaders and between them and the church members. They used pride, the illegitimate ambition for promotion and all other human weaknesses in order to promote their purposes. Sometimes this ‘soft’ approach was much more effective than the use of violent means.
