Cllint Arnold on Expository Preaching

Clinton E Arnold is Professor of New Testament Language and Literature at Talbot Theological Seminary in Los Angeles. California.

In a recent article that you can find HERE, Clint gives 7 reasons in support of consecutive exposition of books of the Bible.

Here is a summary.

1.  It is the best way to feed the sheep a balanced diet.

2.  It enables you to treat hard topics without being second-guessed.

3. It helps to insure that you preach the Scripture and not yourself.

4. It doesn’t have to be boring and lacking in relevance.

5. Expository preaching is and should be application oriented.

6. Expository preaching models how to read Scripture in context.

7. There is a long history of this kind of preaching in the church—with great impact!

Notre:

Clint Arnold, who was at the time teaching at Wheaton College, has visite Romania in late eighties and met secretly with a group of people interested in the study of theology. He  taught us on the topic of ‘powers and principalities’ in Ephesians, which was going to become later on a book, Powers of Darkness: Principalities & Powers in Paul’s Letters.
