Just days before his death, Salman Taseer had sent out a New Years message via Twitter, saying “I am full of optimism.” Here he is pictured during a visit to Asia Bibi, a Pakistani Christian minority woman, who was sentenced to death by a local court for blasphemy last year. Taseer was targeted because of his critique of the blasphemy law under which Bibi was convicted.

Multumesc pt publicare. Din pacate nu mai e nici o speranta. La inmormintarea lui Tasser, au participat 2 mii persoane, inclusiv presedintele. Frumos!
Numai ca pina si lideri islamici din P. considerati moderati adepti ai dialogului au trimis felicitari asasinului. Iar avocati i-au presarat cu petale de flori drumul asasinului spre arest. Ti se face greata… Si cind te gindesti cit de curajosi erau avocati acestia care protestau chipurile fata de abuzurile constitutionale ale fostului presedinte. Recrudescenta fundamentalista islamica este ireversibila. Nu exista moderati ci doar fatarnici, fricosi si martiri precum Tasser. Nu mai exista decit o speranta, Dumnezeu! Restul e scenariu…
