“A New World Map with Mecca at the Center of the World. — A conventional map contains distortions because the world is round and a map is flat. Such maps can give a very inaccurate idea of the direction and distance to Mecca from other places in the world. On this new world map the direction of Mecca and the shortest distance between Mecca and any other place world is easily measured by a straight line.
It is amazing that Mecca is approximately at the center of the land mass of the world.” Great resource handout to supplement presentations on world maps. Reverse side has lots of room for writing your message. One free sample card is available above. These packs are available at a special price of $40 per 100. Produced by Len Guelke (see custom mapping below) at the special request of the Canadian Islamic Congress.
NOTE: This map is an Azimuthal Equal Area Projection. All continents are shown at true size and proportion. The reference to “Mecca being approximately at the center of the land mass of the world” can be said to be equally true of Jerusalem, or Athens for that matter. That region is roughly the antipode (point directly opposite on the globe) to the center of the Pacific Ocean, which is where the least land is located on Earth.

I was joking Danut, indeed. THanks for the correction regarding the term “pagan.”
I agree with Pasarea Phoenix, Jerusalem trumps all religious centers as THE Center.
Even here in Denmark, most medieval churches were built with the altar and apse part of the church pointing … WHERE ELSE … but EAST … towards Jerusalem (geographically speaking, it should be SE or SEE).
