1.4.2 Control of Church Activities
Since they were never able to make the church completely disappear, communist regimes tried to control its activities by confining them strictly to church buildings. Any more or less public meetings which took place within these could be reported on by informers.
This is why home groups were forbidden or disbanded whenever possible, because they were regarded as a serious threat. At the same time, if the groups found ways to keep their meetings secret their activities could continue unhindered for many years.
