Lord Jesus Christ, we were not there when they crucified you,
but we are in constant danger of being heartless when we meet you
in those who are on the way to Calvary today.
Forgive us our lack of love and our selfishness.
Forgive us our heartlessness.
Teach us to realise that we not only sin when we do wrong,
but when we fail to do the good that we could do.
Forgive us for the help we failed to offer.
Forgive us for the comfort we did not give.
Forgive us for the love that we withheld.
Give us greater generosity in sacrifice and a warmer heart,
a heart that opens itself to all who are in need.
Amen!
